Source & remediation:
12 cooling towers across 10 properties tested culture-positive for live Legionella (including Harlem Hospital, the Central Harlem Sexual Health Clinic, CUNY City College Marshak building, and others). All towers were remediated by Aug 15, per DOH.

What to watch for:
Symptoms: fever, chills, muscle aches, cough; sometimes headache, fatigue, loss of appetite, confusion, or diarrhea. Onset is typically 2–10 days after exposure (up to ~14). Not contagious person-to-person.
